A Flying Jatt- Movie Review

Roochster

Remo D’souza is a winner for his effort into turning a complete non-actor (Tiger Shroff) into an actor in a film that may not be the best superhero film (extremely stupid climax) but is entertaining enough to watch till the end and one can even expect a sequel to this.

Captain America Civil War- Movie Review

Roochster

OK let me be honest with you. I am not an Avengers fan. Also, I haven’t seen any Captain America movie so this was a first. I was invited to go for the special preview at PVR Phoenix and I was super excited! Sadly no plus ones allowed and I think Karan was quite jealous cause then he said, ‘Its ok Captain America is anyway boring’ to which I said, “you’re just like the fox who said the grapes our sour cause we couldn’t reach them” 😛 😛 Anyway, here’s what I thought of it.

Plot in short– While the Avengers are doing their best to save people and the world, sometimes, unintentionally it leads to collateral damage. This makes the government doubt the accountability of the superheroes. While Captain America (Chris Evans) believes superheroes must be given full freedom to be themselves and continue helping people while Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) thinks it’s best to let the government take a call on how to protect the country. Standing strong against each other, the Avengers are forced to take sides resulting in a Civil War.

IMG_20160429_180449722The Good-Even though this is supposed to be a ‘Captain America’ film, Ironman Robert Downey Jr. kind of owns it. Some other noteworthy performances come from Scarlett Johansson, Tom Holland, Chadwick Boseman, Anthony Mackie and Paul Rudd. The action sequences were well choreographed, especially the ones that involved Spiderman. In fact, I think I loved all the parts that had Spiderman. The computer graphics are great in parts and alright in some.

The Not-so-good– I must admit, Avengers is so not my thing and Captain America who I wanted to watch was really not the most important part of the film. Ironman got more screen time and had better screen presence too. I also have to say that I was quite bored in many parts. There is drama, humour, action, yes but the film is not action packed and fast paced as I had imagined and wished it to be. It was a bit of a drag.

IMG_20160429_173356655_HDRVerdict– Captain America/ Avengers is probably not my thing and if you’re a crazy superhero fan, you’re definitely giving me gaalis right now.  It was just a bit better than ok.

The Dark Knight Rises- Movie Review

Roochster

After months of waiting, the Dark Knight (Batman) finally rose and that too more than once in the movie! Haha here’s my review of the biggest movie of the year!

Christopher Nolan’s third movie and final in the Batman trilogy is about the Dark Knight’s comeback. After the death of District Attorney Harvey Dent, Bruce Wayne (Batman) takes a backseat and stops making a difference to society as Batman because he takes the blame of Dent’s death. But Bane, a scary looking masked terrorist is on the loose and he’s planting bombs all over Gotham city. And so, the Dark Knight rises.

The man that makes the trilogy so good is Christopher Nolan. No offence to the actors and the others, but this director is the genius behind the legend ‘The Dark Knight’. He’s in a way given Batman a new look, a new image without taking away the image of our childhood superhero.  His thought process is great and he makes any film look like magic. I loved the effects, the cinematogprahy and the look of the film. However, the editing could have been crisper because 2 hrs and 45 minutes is a little too long and to be honest, I did get a little restless in the second half of the movie even though the first half was superb. The build up to the part where we finally see Batman is great! I just had to hoot when I saw Batman on screen, that was something everyone was eagerly waiting for!

Christian Bale as Batman is perfect! His physique, height and acting make him the best choice! Anne Hathway came as a pleasant surprise to me with her role and the way she acted it. We’re so used to seeing her as this sweet, beautiful looking actress in happy roles, always smiling. But she effortlessly played the character of a jewel thief and it was probably her best performance yet! Tom Hardy (Bane) was good and looked threateningly scary with his body and mask but there’s no comparison to our favourite villain- The Joker (Heath Ledger) from The Dark Knight. All the other performances were good. I also thought Jospeh Gordon-Lewitt who played Detective John Blake has great screen presence and played his part very well. Somehow, the Batman-Selina combination reminded me of our very own Aishwarya-Hrithik jodi in Dhoom 2. Some of you who’ve seen the movie might agree with what I’m saying.

Overall, The Dark Knight Rises is a great movie which most people will love. I was a little disappointed with the length of the movie; I would give an extra star had it been a 2 hour movie, which would even leave me wanting more, but for now I’ll stick to 4 out of 5 stars.

Megamind- Movie Review

Roochster

Trailers can be deceptive. Such is the case with Megamind. When I saw the trailer, I thought this movie would be awesome but sadly it wasn’t so.

Megamind is a wanna-be bad guy who wants to be known as a bad-ass villain all over the world. In order to do that, he tries to kill the good superhero- Metro Man but realizes that evil can’t exist without good. So he creates a good superhero to show off his being bad skills. But can he stay evil and not experience what love is? Can the good superhero remain good without taking advantage of his superpowers?

Remember ‘Despicable Me’ that released just a few months ago? Well, that had a similar story and guess what… that was way better! In case you missed that and liked this, go watch Despicable Me and you’ll agree with me.

I didn’t fall in love with Megamind… the central character. There are a lot of flaws in the story telling because of which I didn’t see myself going “Awww” or “Oh no!” etc.  The animation is great but I didn’t feel any connection with the story. It was just going on… you know what I mean? Brad Pitt’s voice was hardly used unfortunately. I think he has a great voice! So yeah, these Hollywood guys do a great job with the minutest expressions where animation is concerned and lots of detailing but character detailing wasn’t given as much importance because of which it was just ok for me as a movie.
