Black Swan- Movie Review

I, like many other movie crazy people from India saw Black Swan more than a month before its release because I couldn’t wait till its release in India! Now I’ll tell you what makes it so awesome!

Black Swan is a movie about Nina (Natalie Portman) who is a ballerina with a reputed Ballet company. The director of their new production- Swan Lake chooses Nina to play the lead character which has 2 shades to her personality- white and black. Now, Nina can play the white character very well as that is who she is. But the black character requires sensuality and letting go of all inhibitions. Black Swan is a journey which makes Nina bring a new shade to her personality and also let go of her inhibitions.

Natalie Portman is definitely the star of the film from start to finish. She’s beautiful, graceful and has portrayed her character so well that you’ll agree that she deserves to bag all the awards for her performance. I also thought Mila Kunis was very convincing in her negative role and looked fab!

I loved the choreography, the make-up, the simplicity of everything and just the whole feel of the movie. It’s one of those movies which makes you think and come up with your own theories after you’ve finished watching it. Lots of ‘whys’, ‘hows’ and ‘whats’ which is a good thing. There are moments when you’ll cringe when you see her in pain and moments when you’ll be in awe while seeing the fluidity of the ballet movements. Darren Aronofsky as a director has done a brilliant job!

All in all, Black Swan was amazing to watch and it’s surely one of the best made movies in the recent times with some outstanding performances!

Beautiful Ballerina

She’s a ballet dancer and knows her art well. She looks beautiful but behind the simple and delicate features, lies a person every man wants to know. There’s something about her.
