Ready- Movie Review

Roochster

I was in Goa when Salman Khan starrer Ready released and I had to wait until I got back so I could go watch it. So yeah, I saw it 5 days after its release. Was it worth the wait?

The story is something like this- Asin (Sanjana) has two evil maamas (do not get along) who want to get her ancestral wealth of 200 crores. Salman (Prem) is the hero and so he jumps to rescue her from their evilness and gets them on the right path. Lots of masala and dhamaal happens in between all of that.

I love stupid, senseless and corny movies meaning movies for the masses and can watch them again and again if they’re really funny. For Ready, unfortunately, I can’t say the same. The story is nothing to brag about so leaving that aside, although I love Salman Khan to death and the main reason to watch this movie was him, I must say that the dialogues were very sad, the jokes or rather pjs were old and as a movie Ready could have been so much better!

Asin is a good actress but somehow I just feel that she and Salman don’t look good together. They just looked odd, you know what I mean? She just doesn’t go with the whole commercial film image. On the other hand, Salman Khan is Salman Khan. He’s just something else. With no air about himself he’s just himself even while acting and most Salman fans will agree that that’s what makes him Salman Khan and that’s why we love him. I just felt that he should have had more action scenes ‘cause those were the best scenes in the movie. I also felt Aarya Babbar who has a very small role really cracked me up with his expressions, especially in the action scene where the crab bites his butt! Mahesh Manjrekar was very annoying!

I admit that some dialogues were really funny but most were not. I also thought that the songs were ok except for Dhinka Chika and Character Dheela. They obviously did not have any connection with what was happening in the film and were just ghusaaod anywhere but a lot of masala films are like that so I wont single this one out in that department!

Overall, Ready was disappointing and very ok. If I had to compare, I’d say Dabangg was more entertaining than this. Watch it if you’re a Salman Khan fan!

Tees Maar Khan- Movie Review

Roochster

My name is Sheila…Sheila ki jawani…I’m too sexy for you…main tere haath na aani! This song has been stuck in everyone’s heads since atleast a month and now after watching the movie, there’ll definitely be more fans of the song if not the movie.

Tees Maar Khan (TMK) a.k.a Akshay Kumar is a con artist who plans to rob a train loaded with antiques that can fetch him enough moolah for the rest of his life. In order to rob the train, he disguises himself as a film director and cons Bollywood superstar Aatish Kapoor (Akshaye Khanna), desperately wanting an Oscar and Sheila (B grade actress and TMK’s girlfriend), with a lead role in a ‘period film’ called Bharat Ka Khazana (supposedly based on the Kakori conspiracy case of the pre-Independence era).

Farah Khan’s known for her masala movies and she’s made 2 really good ones. I don’t understand why this went wrong. It’s funny in parts but not funny enough. There’s drama and action but not enough. Somehow, I just couldn’t enjoy this movie completely. The dialogues are very ok. I didn’t find myself laughing at most jokes. OK I laughed a lot at the ‘Mere desh ki dharti scene’ and I must admit it was very funny.

Coming to the acting part…There’s Akshay Kumar who’s acted better in the past and there’s Katrina who’d have made atleast 10,000 people watch the movie only for her item song- Sheila ki jawani. Her role has no matlab only. I think the supporting actors- Raghu & Rajiv, Aarya Babbar and Akshaye Khanna were way better!  The music is not that great except for Sheila ki jawani, Wallah re wallah and the title track which are good but not excellent. I still think Munni’s better than Sheila in all respects.

So yeah, Tees Maar Khan is just average and I’m quite disappointed. I expected more from Farah Khan.
