Dabangg 2- Movie Review

Roochster

Dabangg-2-PosterDabangg as a movie was ok and I was expecting better from part 2. But I guess experience says that sequels are rarely as good as or better than the first movies and in the case of Dabangg 2, I have to agree.

So, Chulbul Pandey (Salman Khan) is happily married to Rajjo (Sonakshi Sinha) and stays in Kanpur with her, Makkhi (Arbaaz Khan) and their father (Vinod Khanna). This time he has a new enemy- Baccha bhaiyya and his brothers. Now, the crux of the story is this- Villian bullies people from town and Chulbul, Chulbul kills villain’s brother. Villain takes badla and attacks Chulbul’s pregnant wife and brother. Chulbul doesn’t take that too well and fights bare-chested in the last sequence to create dramatic effect. Haha

Ok so the story of the movie as you read above is quite useless. Arbaaz Khan as a director has tried his best to keep up the standard by using the best editors, action directors, cinematographers, stylists and production designers. However, he failed to work on the screenplay and dialogues which were much better in the first Dabangg. Somehow, I was pretty bored throughout in spite of seeing my favourite Salman Khan in the movie. There was barely any humour or emotional connect with the characters except for that one scene when Salman Khan is crying like a baby.

Coming to the performances… Salman Khan is such a star that even if he says dialogues half heartedly, people love him (including me). I understand that he’s supposed to have attitude and style in the movie but in Dabangg 2 he’s sort of taken the audience for granted and it seems as though he’s just been woken up and pushed to act. Sonakshi Sinha is lovely! She not only looks beautiful but also convinces as Chulbul’s wife. Prakash Raj who was brilliant in Singham was good here too but he didn’t have much meat to his character because it was all given to Salman Khan. I thought Deepak Dobriyal (the guy who plays Genda) was very good too. Arbaaz Khan was too busy being a director to bother paying attention to acting instead of just mugging lines.

The music of the film by Sajid Wajid is decent. The song ‘Dagabaaz’ is really well sung and good to listen to. ‘Fevicol’ is a great dance number with crazy lyrics!

Overall, Dabangg 2 goes one step lower in comparison to Dabangg and I’m very disappointed. I still love Salman Khan though! 😛
