Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu- Movie Review
I was really really looking forward to watching this romantic comedy especially ‘cause Kareena was in it and Karan Johar had produced it. Is it the perfect movie to watch with your Valentine? You’re just about to find out!
As we’ve all heard, Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu is inspired by the movie ‘What Happens in Vegas’ but I felt it was also similar to ‘Just Married’, ‘Wake up Sid’, ‘I hate Love Stories’, ‘Break ke baad’ and many more such movies. A guy and a girl, get drunk one night and when they wake up the next morning, they’re married. Now all they need to do is get an annulment of their marriage. But, during this period, love comes in the way and things take a turn.
I honestly expected better from this film. Even though it’s barely a 2 hours film, the pace is slow and gets a little pointless. It could easily pass off as a one hour episode of one of the popular comedy sitcoms. So much could have been done in those 2 hours! I’m not saying that what’s there is bad; I’m just saying that there could have been scenes which would add to making the story interesting. But I loved the camera work, costumes, art direction and make up.
Actingwise, I think Imran Khan has done a good job. He’s definitely getting better at acting and is also getting movies that suit him. Kareena Kapoor is good but too much smiling got a little annoying, even though she looks gorgeous!
Amit Trivedi as a music director has been pretty promising in the past. I wonder what went wrong here. Except for the title track, I wouldn’t care to listen to any of the other tracks.
Overall, Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu is not a chick flick I’d recommend, especially if you’re going to watch it with your Valentine. Maybe my expectations were too high but this one’s just ok.
